No spectators for this event
We are sad to announce, but our July 18 and July 19 races will NOT have any fans. We will be going ahead with racing featuring Hornets, Street Stocks and Hit to Pass, both days. Our Eve of Destruction will also be cancelled for July 19. The following is a statment from Owner/Operator of Penticton Speedway, Johnny Aantjes:
"I'm sorry to our spectators, participants and sponsors! After working with a local Interior Health rep to succesfully have our first event July 4th, Dr. Bonnie Henry's office has decided that we can not have more than 50 spectators on our 22 acre facility for another event. WE WILL BE RACING WITHOUT SPECTATORS JULY 18 AND 19. To say I am frustrated is an understatement.
There is a lack of consistency and common sense attached to the order currently, in my opinion. We have followed the rules from the start, but now we are being put in a disadvantaged postion with blanket rules that are not evenly distributed. I understand that this is a difficult time, and we do not want to put anyone in more risk than they aready are in our community. This is not about a Speedway... this is about a small family business being overlooked."
